Eligibility Criteria of SAIL Recruitment 2023

Upper Age Limit: The upper age limit is determined as of 31.12.2023, which is the closing date of the online application. The upper age limits for different categories are as follows:

  • General Category: The upper age limit is as per standard rules.
  • SC/ST Category: 33 years
  • OBC (NCL) Category: 31 years
  • PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) Category: Candidates in this category enjoy a relaxation of 10 years over and above the standard upper age limit.
  • Departmental Candidate’s Upper Age Limit: For departmental candidates, the upper age limit is fixed at 45 years irrespective of the caste/category of the candidates.

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST Category: Relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
  • OBC (NCL) Category: Relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit.
  • PwBD Category: Relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit.

Minimum Qualification:

Candidates interested in applying for the SAIL Management Trainees (Technical) position should follow the application process outlined below:

Selection Process of SAIL Recruitment 2023

Eligible candidates will undergo a comprehensive selection process for the position of Management Trainees (Technical) at SAIL. The process is outlined as follows:

1. Online Examination – Computer Based Test (CBT):

  • The CBT is tentatively scheduled for January 2024 at various centers across India.
  • The CBT comprises two parts:
  • a. Domain Knowledge Test: Duration of 40 minutes, 100 marks.
  • b. Aptitude Test: Duration of 80 minutes, 100 marks, consisting of segments in Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness.

2. Group Discussion (GD) and Interview:

  • Candidates qualifying in the Online Examination will be shortlisted for GD and Interview in the ratio of 1:3, category-wise, based on merit.
  • The call letters for GD and Interview will be uploaded on the SAIL website, and candidates will be informed through emails.

3. Biometric Verification:

  • Biometric verification may be conducted at various stages, including Online Test (CBT), GD/Interview, and at the time of joining.
  • Candidates must ensure correct impressions are captured, and any inconsistency may result in the rejection of candidature.

4. Final Selection:

  • The final merit list will be prepared by combining scores from CBT, GD, and Interview with weightage of 75:10:15, respectively.
  • Merit lists will be prepared separately for each category based on combined total marks obtained in the selection process.
  • In case of a tie in the final merit list, priority will be given to the candidate with higher marks in the Online Examination. If there is still a tie, higher marks in the relevant eligibility qualification (B.E./B. Tech.) will be considered.
