About B Borooah Cancer Institute Guwahati
The Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute was established by the voluntary organization.
‘Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Society Trust’ in honor of Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah (4th September 1893 – 25th September 1956), a distinguished physician, freedom fighter, and philanthropist from Assam.
The decision to create a cancer hospital in Guwahati was made in 1958 during a public meeting, commemorating Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah’s legacy.
The late Debendra Nath Sarma served as the Founder President, and the illustrious Dr. Kanak Chandra Borooah, brother of Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah, was the Founder Secretary.
Contributions from individuals like Late Bimala Prasad Chaliha, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury, Bishnuram Medhi, Dr. Ghanashyam Das,Dr. Birendra Nath Choudhury, and others played a pivotal role in the relentless development of the Institute since its inception.

Medical Officer (Palliative Medicine)
- Eligibility Criteria: MBBS. Preference will be given to those with experience/certificate in palliative care.
- Age Limit: 40 years, extendable for in-service candidates of TMC.
- Salary: Rs. 84,000/- per month.
Nurse
- Eligibility Criteria: B.Sc. (Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing / Diploma in Oncology Nursing).
- Age Limit: 30 years, extendable for in-service candidates of TMC.
- Salary: Rs. 29,000/- per month.
Attendant
- Eligibility Criteria: 12th Pass.
- Age Limit: 27 years, extendable for in-service candidates of TMC.
- Salary: Rs. 14,400/- per month.
