CBSE CTET Notification

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the commencement of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for January 2024. The detailed notification is now available on the official website.

CBSE is set to conduct the CTET on January 21st, 2024, in twenty languages across 135 cities. The examination will take place at numerous centers nationwide. For individuals aspiring to embark on a career in teaching at the school level, participation and successful qualification in CTET are imperative.

Eligibility Criteria of CBSE CTET :

The CTET is your gateway to a rewarding career in teaching. To be eligible, candidates must meet the educational qualifications as specified by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Please visit Official Website to confirm your eligibility.

For Classes I-V (Primary Stage):

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

  • OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

  • OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.

  • OR
    “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)”
    “(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher”.

For Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage):

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

  • OR
    Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

  • OR
    Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

  • OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

  • OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

  • OR
    Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.

  • OR
    Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

Application Fee of CBSE CTET 2024:

  • General/OBC: Rs.1000/- (Paper I or II), Rs.1200/- (Both Paper I & II)
  • SC/ST/PWD: Rs.500/- (Paper I or II), Rs.600/- (Both Paper I & II)

How to Apply For CBSE CTET:

  1. Visit the official portal of CBSE CTET.
  2. Scroll down to the Important Web-Links section.
  3. Click on the Online Application Form link.
  4. Fill in your personal and educational details as required.
  5. Upload your passport-sized photograph, signature, and other required documents.
  6. Pay the examination fee according to your category.
  7. Click on the submit button.
  8. Don’t forget to take a printout of the submitted application form.

Important Dates:

  • Starting date of submission of online application: 3rd November 2023
  • Last date of submission of online application: 23rd November 2023
  • Issue of CTET Admit Card: Two days before the day of the examination
  • Date of CTET Examination 2023: 21st January 2024
